Marklund's annual Run, Walk & Roll 5K/1-mile to be in-person first time since 2019

Marklund's annual Run, Walk & Roll 5K/1-mile event will return in-person in Bloomingdale this weekend for the first time since 2019.

The fifth annual Run, Walk & Roll-Bloomingdale will kick off at 8 a.m. Sunday, April 24, at the Marklund Philip Center, 164 S. Prairie Ave. in Bloomingdale.

Race day registrations will be accepted on-site for both the 5K and 1-mile events.

"We are very excited to be back in-person for our 5th anniversary Run, Walk & Roll-Bloomingdale," stated Natalie Sarby, race director. "We are grateful to the many area residents who have continued to support this event, especially over the past two years, when we held it as a virtual-only experience."

Participation in this event supports Marklund, a nonprofit organization that provides residential, educational and therapeutic care for children and adults with profound developmental disabilities. Founded in 1954, Marklund has been a part of the Bloomingdale community since 1957.

Marklund's Run, Walk & Roll was established in 2013 as a fun and community friendly way to raise awareness and support for Marklund's programs and services. From the initial Run, Walk & Roll logo designed by Geneva High School students, to the enormous support from our local businesses, neighbors and friends, this event continues to surpass all expectations.
