Prairie Scale Model Railroaders is an HO Scale model railroad club in Lombard. What makes them different from most model railroad clubs is that while they have varied interests and skill-sets, they are primarily interested in prototype modeling and prototypical operations.

The club occupies a 7,200-square-foot space that, a few decades ago, once housed an eight-lane bowling alley. The size and shape of this space will ultimately allow us to build a railroad with a mainline run of roughly 2,000 feet, with broad, sweeping curves and passing sidings that will accommodate 40-50 car trains.

The next open houses will be 6 to 9 p.m. Fridays, Oct. 15 and Dec. 10; 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 14; 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26; 1 to 4 p.m. Dec. 11-12.
