Wheaton League of Women Voters and Wheaton library host 'Living History' on Florence Nightingale

The League of Women Voters of Wheaton, the Wheaton Public Library and the Robert McCormick House at Cantigny Park invite you to an impersonation of Florence Nightingale to celebrate Women's History Month. The program is co-sponsored by the City of Wheaton Community Relations Commission and the Wheaton Public Library.

Born on May 12, 1820, Florence Nightingale became the founder of the modern nursing profession. Against all odds, and with a determination uncharacteristic of women in the 1800s, Nightingale won the right to serve.

The 34-year-old English social reformer was the first female superintendent of nurses in the British army and led a team of 38 nurses into the horrible circumstances of the Crimean War. She later established a training program for nurses at St. Thomas' Hospital in London.

Join master storyteller and award winning actor Megan Wells as she brings to life this famous historical figure.

"Living History: Florence Nightingale" will be 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 11, on Zoom. To sign up, go to the Events Calendar at www.wheatonlibrary.org.

This event will be a virtual event due to COVID-19 and social distancing guidelines. Please feel free to submit any questions you have to blaimins@gmail.com before the event. During the presentation, please use the chat box located on the bottom of the Zoom screen.

A zoom link to the presentation will be sent a day or two before the event.
