Northwestern Medicine breast health centers achieve national re-accreditation
The high-quality care patients receive at the Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital Breast Health Center and the Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital Breast Health Center has once again been recognized with a three-year accreditation by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers.
To achieve this voluntary re-accreditation, the team demonstrated standards that include leadership, clinical services, research, community outreach, professional education and quality improvement.
The accreditation recognizes the breast health center's commitment to providing leading care for patients with breast disease. Patients at both breast centers have access to advanced diagnostic and screening mammography, clinical trials, new treatments, genetic counseling and supportive services.
“Every person has a unique story, and that is why we provide an individualized plan for each patient,” said Dr. Mary Ahn, breast surgeon and medical director of the breast health centers. “This accreditation honors our team's dedication to bringing advanced breast care close to where we live and work.”
Ahn said patients benefit from the compassion and experience of the breast center team members.
“Patients are first in everything we do, and we are always looking for ways to enhance the care we provide,” Ahn said. “We are here to educate, to support and to provide outstanding clinical care. Women and men trust us to provide the most advanced medical imaging, diagnostic and surgical care, and that means a great deal to all of us.”
