McHenry County College volleyball team qualifies for national tournament

The McHenry County College women's volleyball team recently won the Region IV Volleyball Championship, earning them a spot in the NJCAA National Tournament Nov. 21-23 in Charleston, West Virginia. The team's record is 29-15.

MCC defeated Carl Sandburg College in the playoff game held Sunday, Nov. 10, at the College of Lake County in Grayslake.

Earlier in the tournament, the Scots defeated Wisconsin Bryant & Stratton and Morton College.

Student athletes Nina Hood (Streamwood) and Lilli Leggett (McHenry) were named to the All-Region Tournament Team, an elite group of seven players selected from 18 teams and approximately 180 players in Region IV. Coach Kyle McCall was also named as District B Coach of the Year.

"We are extremely proud of this team and the hard work and dedication they've put in to this season," said Karen Willey, director of Athletics at MCC. "We wish them the very best as they continue on to Nationals!"

The 16-team, double elimination NJCAA National Tournament will be broadcast via livestream on Nov. 21-23 at www.njcaatv.com/landing.
