SEECOM training program receives national recertification

Southeast Emergency Communications in Crystal Lake has successfully received Agency Training Program Certification from the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials International.

This national certification is a formal process which ensures that SEECOM has a training program that meets or exceeds national standards as specified in APCO American National Standards.

SEECOM submitted its training manual, training records, policies and supporting documentation which underwent a thorough review from APCO.

On July 2, 2019, APCO confirmed that their evaluation found the program met the specifications set forth in the national standard.

"Successfully attaining APCO's Agency Training Program Certification clearly demonstrates an agency's commitment to the citizens and public safety responders they serve," said APCO International President Holly Wayt.

"I am extremely proud of the continued hard work and commitment from our training team and public safety telecommunicators. Their daily desire to provide a high level of service for the communities we serve is evident in this certification," stated Executive Director Jason Kern.

SEECOM is one of four emergency communications centers in Illinois to be listed as having their training program nationally certified and one of less than 100 across the country. This is the second consecutive three-year certification for SEECOM.

The Southeast Emergency Communications is a consolidated emergency 9-1-1 communications center created in 2005 by the Village of Algonquin, Village of Cary and City of Crystal Lake. SEECOM proudly serves 13 agencies (Algonquin Police, Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire, Cary Police, Crystal Lake Fire Rescue, Crystal Lake Police, Crystal Lake Park District Police, Huntley Fire, Huntley Police, Illinois Public Works Mutual Aid Network, Lake in the Hills Police, Mutual Aid Box Alarm System Division 5, McHenry County College Police, and Oakwood Hills Police), and and a combined residential population of over 215,000 in McHenry County, Illinois.
