Virtuoso guitarist Jack Cimo returns to Chicagoland For a concert celebrating Spanish and Italian roots Mar. 2

Jack Cimo, a celebrated guitarist and rising star in the world of classical music, will play an exciting concert of Spanish, Italian, and Brazilian works, as well as selections from his new self-titled album. "I'll be playing some of Villa-Lobos' daunting concert etudes. It will be interesting to see how this music evolved from Spanish music and integrated other influences from the New World. Much of the guitar repertoire emanates from Spain, so audiences will have a reference from which to draw comparisons when I play pieces by Álbeniz and Tárrega, for example," explains Mr. Cimo.

Having studied with the legendary Pepe Romero and Grammy Award winner Bill Kanengiser, he is a seasoned performer who has captivated audiences around the world.

"Mr. Cimo plays with expressive depth, great feeling, and brilliant virtuosity. His performance of the

Rodrigo Concierto de Aranjuez with the Reno Pops Orchestra was a season favorite that our audience and musicians are still discussing in appreciation and awe." --Jane Brown, Conductor

Mr. Cimo has been a prizewinner in competitions, including winning USC's Presser Award and taking 3rd in the Sierra Nevada Guitar Festival. He was recently one of two Americans to be invited to the prestigious Joann Falletta International Guitar Concerto Competition in Buffalo, NY.

"Jack Cimo's artistry was above and beyond any expectation. I have heard many fine guitarists in concert which I have found to be beautiful. This was beyond beautiful. One was totally unaware of Cimo's stellar technique because his music cut immediately to the soul. I was breathless." --John Howard, DMA and Director, Concert Series, Grand Junction, CO.

Mr. Cimo, who grew up in Arlington Heights and now calls California home, has Skokie roots through his mother, who attended Niles East High School. His travels have given him the opportunity to play in venues as unique as the National Cowboy Museum in Oklahoma City, and as grand as an 18th century Georgian Palace at Castletown, Ireland.

Don't miss this rare opportunity.

The concert will take place at the recently remodeled Skokie Theatre at 7924 Lincoln Ave in downtown Skokie on Saturday, March 2 at 8pm. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased online at https://www.skokietheatre.org/jack-cimo.html or by calling 847-677-7761.
