28th annual Haunted Hike returns with 'Haunted Hallowdayz'

For the 28th year, the Three Fires Council, Boy Scouts of America have welcomed youth and adults from around the community to take an evening hike through the trails of Camp Big Timber, but this time you'll be in for a scare.

"Each year the Haunted Hike provides an opportunity for family and friends to enjoy a nighttime adventure through a camp that's right in their neighborhood," said Ben Mahlke, TFC Field Director. "It's a thrilling adventure that we look forward to each year."

More than 3,500 community members have gathered in line to experience a night time hike outdoors within the 70 acres suburban woods of Camp Big Timber. This year's theme is "Haunted Hallowdayz" where volunteers will be transformed into holiday ghouls, ghosts and goblins to scare participants.

Two separate hikes will be offered, a Kiddie Hike for ages 10 and under and the Haunted Hike for anyone older.

The annual Haunted Hike will be 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, Oct. 19-20, 26-27, at Camp Big Timber, 37W955 Big Timber Road, west of Randall Road in Elgin.

The Kiddie Hike will be 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays, Oct. 20 and 27.

The Kiddie Hike welcomes families to walk the afternoon trail where children can participate in crafts, enjoy face painting and more

Tickets are $15 per person and may be purchased in advance online or at the door. Last tickets are sold at 10:30 p.m. Get $1 off the price of 10 or more tickets.
