Annual Big Fall Book Sale to be open Sept. 23 to Oct. 7.

The Environmental Defenders of McHenry County will hold its annual Big Fall Book Sale at the Algonquin Township Highway Department garage, 3702 Route 14, Crystal Lake.

Open hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday to Friday, Sept. 25-29. It will be closed Saturday, Sept. 30.

The sale will continue from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday, Oct. 2-7. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, it will be open until 6 p.m.

Thousands of books will be available including fiction, nonfiction, history, biography, religion, philosophy, books for children and teens, self-help, travelogues, sports, entertainment, cookbooks, crafts, music, art a photography, foreign language, poetry, short stories and much more.

Donations of re-sellable books are accepted year round at the Defenders' Green Spot Used Book store, in the Woodstock Square Mall building on the main floor.

Proceeds from the sale benefit the Environmental Defenders of McHenry County, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation and improvement of the environment.

The group provides community residents with educational programs and volunteer action on pollution prevention, sustainable land use and energy and natural resource conservation.

Donations are encouraged and are tax-deductible as charitable contributions.
