I always anticipate the Spring migration of the Bald Eagles. These two were taken on the Black River near Onalaska, WI. A combination of a warm water discharge, and a Gizzard Shad die-off, has led to dozens of eagles fishing in a very accessible area. This photo won in the month of March.

This was an amazing day hike with my son, Todd, and my grandson, Will. The warm day made the ice glisten, and the blue sky and the clouds were stunning. Matanuska Glacier is about two hours east of Anchorage, Alaska. This photo won in the month of April

This photo was taken in Dec. at Whalon Lake. I drove to the area with the hopes of catching the sunset. I hit the timing just right. I was very pleased with the composition and the placement of the sun in relation to the tree. The thing that really set this photo off for me is the reflection of the sun in the foreground. The colors are beautiful with the hues of pink and orange spread throughout the bare branches of the tree. This photo won in the month of January.

I went to take sunset photos tonight (Friday November 2) ... and the skies were beautiful. Then, there was a fisherman near me and he caught a fish. It took him a while to unhook the fish to throw him back. All of a sudden, dozens of Seagulls came flying around (hoping to eat the fish) ... I was so excited to capture the flying seagulls during a sunset. The fish safely went back into the lake. This photo won in the month of November.

A photo of a hawk I took in my backyard. This hawk is the largest I have ever seen up close. I loved the way it was framed by the leaves and the branch and I loved the background colors which enhanced the photo. This photo won in the month of November.

Our tour guide in Linz, Austria this past summer, was framed by these yellow tour buses as she negotiated a path through them on our walking tour. I thought the lone figure framed by the bright yellow buses created an interesting image. This photo won in the month of December.

On November 9, we had our first measurable snowfall in the Chicago area. I like this shot taken at Morton Arboretum in Lisle. In a single photo it shows both seasons -- the remaining fall colors on several trees, and a bare tree etched with winter's first snow. This photo won in the month of November.

I took this picture of a recently planted cornfield in Hampshire. This particular photo was taken a couple of years ago although it could have been taken this past spring. I like the uniformity of the plant and row spacing while the rows follow a curve dictated by a nearby creek. Thanks to all of you who farm. This photo won in the month of July.

I have noticed lately some of the horses boarded near me are laying down some of the time. I caught this one laying down today on this cold April day. When we get an occasional warm day this spring the horses are running around. I can sympathize. When is Spring going to come? This photo won in the month of April.

This was the top piece of a five foot high ceramic, fired glazed, sculpture. A real "work of art" by a Sun City West, AZ. Clay Club member. I took a low angle shot to "catch" the UFO in the clouds. I then used photo editing software cloning tool, to brush in clouds below the subject. This created the airborne effect. This photo won in the month of May.

While visiting friends in Florida recently, we visited Tarpon Springs. Pelicans frequent the area behind a restaurant, hoping for a handout. Small Red Dragonfly. I find these to be very intriguing. They are so small, you can't see them unless you look for them, when you capture the photo you can see their intense, huge eyes. They do not use their six legs to walk ... only to perch. This photo won in the month of September.

During a May visit to the Morton Arboretum in Lisle, I photographed this fascinating fern with it's repeating "handlebar mustache" shapes. I don't know whether the curves will stay that shape, or straighten out like the lower leaves as it grows over the summer months. This photo won in the month of May.
