I enjoy shooting aerial photograph because they often give a surreal view of everyday things that a ground level photograph just can't do. The giant trucks moving their load around and the earth moves slinging dirt look like toys from 350 feet in the air. I made this photo when I was getting images to illustrate at story about Cary village officials who revealed plans for the restoration of the Meyer-Lafarge gravel pit to residents. The 102-acre site northeast of Route 31 and Klasen Road will include paths, park areas, 60-space parking lot, a 2.5-mile trail circling a 77-acre lake, and fishing areas, which will be opened to the public later this year.
