'We the People' art show opens at Naperville Fine Art Center & Gallery

Naperville Art League's latest art show, "We the People … honoring veterans, active and reserve military" runs through Saturday, Nov. 14, at the Naperville Fine Art Center & Gallery, 508 N. Center St. in Naperville.

Artists include Naperville Art League members, community artists, military, and military family participants.

Artists were invited to write a brief statement about their pieces. "The stories are so touching!," said Naperville Art League president Sally Sharp. "Respect and pride for America's military is evident. Some pieces, like a bust of a soldier done by his mother, and a collage of memorabilia, bring the viewer close to the emotions of the artists."

Naperville Art League holds a new art show each month.

"The schedule, which includes Veterans' Day this year, allowed us to open the submissions to everyone, young and old," Sharp said.

Art by the youth of our community includes a painted shoe depicting military events, and a crayon portrait titled "My Uncle is a Marine."

Nearly 50 pieces of original art by local artists are on display.

Show hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays; and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays.

Admission is free. Face masks and social distancing are required.

The show is held in partnership with Operation Support Our Troops-America, which has a donation box at the gallery.

A list of supplies needed, several urgently needed, can be found at www.osotamericociala.org/comfort-and-care-package-program/products-needed.
