Learn about new safety protocol at Wheaton-Warrenville Dist. 200 schools
Wheaton-Warrenville Unit District 200 will host two ALICE information nights at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, at Wheaton North High School, 701 W. Thomas Road, and 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, at Wheaton Warrenville South High School, 1993 Tiger Trail.
District 200 schools are adding ALICE, a new safety protocol that equips teachers and students with response options during an active safety situation. It stands for "Alert. Lockdown. Inform. Counter. Evacuate."
These information nights are co-sponsored by District 200 and the Wheaton Police Department.
For questions, contact Erica Loiacono at email@example.com or (630) 682-2469.
For the past year, the district has been planning the implementation of this new safety protocol in partnership with the police departments.
Staff members have been participating in ALICE training during institute days over the last several months.
On March 23-27, during District 200 Safety Week, all schools will review all of their safety protocols and students will receive age-appropriate training on the new procedure.
The Wheaton Police Department has offered several community presentations on ALICE. Watch the presentation at vimeo.com/352145073.
