Local Artists Wanted for Illinois Bicentennial Celebration

The Grayslake Arts Alliance, in partnership with the Village of Grayslake, seeks a Lake County artist or artist team to complete a piece of public art in honor of the Illinois Bicentennial celebrating both Illinois and Grayslake's history. A purchase prize of $5,000 will be awarded and the winning entry will be unveiled at the Grayslake Village Hall on Friday, November 23, 2018.

All artwork must be original and may include painting, drawing, photography, stained glass, 3D, sculpture, mobile, fiber art, or any type of mixed media.

Proposal details and submission form are available online at www.grayslakeartsalliance.org. Entries may also be submitted to the Grayslake Heritage Center and Museum, 164 Hawley Street, Grayslake, IL 60030 to the attention of Michelle Poe. Deadline for submitting proposals is August 31, 2018. The selected artist will be notified on September 10, 2018.

Entries will be judged by a panel of faculty from the College of Lake County, members of the Grayslake Arts Alliance, and officials from the Village of Grayslake. The winning entry will be unveiled at the annual Village of Grayslake Tree Lighting Ceremony and the Grayslake Arts Alliance Holiday Fine Arts Show on Friday, November 23, 2018, at the Village Hall.
