Get 'Hooked on Fishing' June 16-17

Take Dad fishing for Father's day weekend. McHenry County Conservation District's Hooked on Fishing family event coincides with Illinois Free Fishing Days, when anyone can fish without a license.

Create memories with your kids that will last a lifetime from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 16, at Lake Atwood in The Hollows, 3804 Route 14 in Cary, and Sunday, June 17, at Rush Creek, 20501 McGuire Road, Harvard.

If you've never been fishing, staff on hand will help with fishing techniques and safety tips.

Bring your own gear or borrow ours, first come first served. There will be prizes for biggest fish, most caught and more.

Adult supervision of children is required. Sign-in begins at 9 a.m.

Pre-registration is required for this free event and is accepted online at www.MCCDistrict.org, by phone at (815) 479-5779, by mail and walk-in at Prairieview Education Center, 2112 Behan Road in Crystal Lake, or drop-off only at Lost Valley Visitor Center, Route 31 and Harts Road in Ringwood.

The 2018 Illinois Free Fishing Days celebration coincides with Father's Day weekend - June 15-18. During this four-day celebration of fishing in Illinois, anglers can fish without purchasing a fishing license, salmon stamp or inland trout stamp.
