Bands to battle in Cary Saturday

Four local teen bands will show off their talents in the Battle of the Bands competition hosted by the Cary Park District.

The competition will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 30, at the Rotary Bandshell in Lions Park, 1200 Silver Lake Road in Cary. Admission to the event is free.

The Battle of the Bands competition gives local musicians a way to showcase their talents onstage in front of an audience. The winning band is decided by a panel of judges and will move on to compete in the regional competition held in July. The winner of the regional competition will move on to the state competition held in Springfield this August.

Band members are between the ages of 12 and 21. Each band will have approximately 20-30 minutes to perform and the winner will be announced at the conclusion of the event. Bands scheduled to perform are Echo, One Step Forward, Struck by Aliens, and Tetred.
