West Aurora Theatre Troupe 2013 to put on 'Jekyll and Hyde' April 28-30

West Aurora Theatre Troupe 2013 presents their spring musical, "Jekyll and Hyde" by Leslie Bricusse at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 28, to Saturday, April 30, in the West Aurora High School auditorium, 1201 W. New York St. in Aurora.

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at www.sd129tickets.org. Advanced ticket purchase is recommended, but tickets will be sold at the door.

Based on the classic thriller by Robert Louis Stevenson, the show follows Dr. Henry Jekyll as he aims to cure his ailing father's mental illness by separating "good" from "evil" in the human personality. However, his experiments go awry, and he inadvertently creates an evil alter ego within himself named Edward Hyde. Soon after, Hyde goes on a murderous rampage throughout London that has the townspeople fearing for their safety. Jekyll's fiancee, Emma, and his best friend, John, are worried about his well-being. Jekyll also meets Lucy, a prostitute desperate to leave behind the only life she has ever known. However, Lucy then meets Hyde, and finds herself inexplicably drawn to him. Jekyll must race to find a cure before Hyde takes over his mind for good, ultimately erasing Jekyll from existence. The show's music truly embodies the struggle within Jekyll's mind, as well as the love that is present beneath it all, and will have the audience on the edge of its seat. This show is intended for mature audiences.
