  His carbon fiber skis bend and thump the snow as Slovenian ski jumper Luka Plestenjak lands near the 70 meter mark at the 111th Annual Norge International Winter Ski Jump Tournament in Fox River Grove in January. Olympic jumpers may use skis that are up to 146% of their body height. Jumpers are judged not only on distance, but also on the style of their flight and landing. In Fox River Grove, jumpers carry their skis up the narrow stairs of the 150 foot ramp that launches them down the steeply sloped hill. The wide and long skis, combined with the neoprene type body suit, helps them glide toward the bottom of the hill.
