Learn about the fun of home-brewing Dec. 2
Bill Cross from the Midnight Carboys, a local home-brew club, will talk about the fun of home brewing and provide a few samples at the monthly meeting of the McHenry County Green Drinks from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, at Duke's Alehouse & Kitchen, upstairs, 110 N. Main St. in Crystal Lake.
The topics will be "Home Brewing as a Hobby" and "Choosing Sustainable Alcohol." Cross has won various medals in home brew competitions throughout the Midwest. He recently collaborated with Crystal Lake Brewing to create the first sour beer in its collection with the proceeds going to nonprofits.
Duke's own staff also will talk about how they choose their sustainable alcoholic beverages to share with their patrons. Join them for an end-of-the-year celebration and maybe you will learn something to share at your holiday gatherings.
On Jan. 6, it will be home composting for smaller households.
Additional parking is available at the train station. To be added to the Green Drinks email list, send a note to GreenDrinksMC@gmail.com or "like" the group at www.facebook.com/GreenDrinksMcHenryCounty.
