Two months after its grand opening on Aug 1st, Epic Healthy Living Education Center hosted several senior gatherings and other educational, entertaining events for the northern suburb communities.

Senior citizens enjoy free membership and activity at Epic center. While we encourage senior members to come to Epic any day, the senior gathering day is more tailored toward serving their needs. Epic center designated second Saturday of each month as senior gathering day, healthy dinner was provided free to participating seniors at 7 pm, followed by a free Tai-Chi lesson from Master Guo Jianhua, who has over 40 years of teaching experience. Senior members played badminton, table tennis, mahjong and card games. The senior gathering days for the remaining of the 2014 are Nov 10th and Dec 11th.

Starting October 25th, Epic center will start youth toastmaster and badminton club on Saturday. Youth toastmaster club is a learn-by-doing workshop in which participants hone their speaking and leadership skills in a no-pressure atmosphere. There is no instructor and discussion is led by a high school senior student who will get community service and leadership hours. Thanks to our silver sponsor Fotodiox, Epic Healthy Living Education Center will offer a series of five seminars on how to use Adobe Photoshop and Premiere taught by two professionals. These seminars are scheduled to take place on Nov 7th, 14th, 21st, Dec 5th and 12th at 7:30-9 pm.

Epic center hosted a seminar on estate planning and living trust on Oct 3rd followed by a seminar on social security. This is a two-part seminar presented by Jenny Xu, a certified financial planner from Waddell @ Reed and Heather Walser from Lavelle Law, LTD. Similar to the first seminar, this seminar was also a full-classroom event with every single seat being taken. Members enjoyed a free dinner as well Mrs. Xu's seminar and expertise in financial planning. Future Friday seminar series on financial planning includes insurance planning on Nov 14th and tax saving strategies on Dec 12th.

Epic center has successfully hosted a couple of dance parties in August and September. The Nov 1st Halloween dance party is a costume dance party. Best male and female costume will be awarded. The dance party will start at 8 pm with the first hour dedicated to instructor-led practice. Epic dance and karaoke party will be a monthly event scheduled for Nov 1st, Nov 30th and Dec 27th of 2014. The annual karaoke contest will take place this Saturday Oct 18th from 3 pm to 6 pm. First place, second place and third place will be awarded to both male and female singers. First place winner also gets $50 cash in addition to a trophy.

The number of membership and participants to our weekend classes has been steadily increasing. Many members have found their favorite classes and spent weekend nights at Epic Center excising and learning. Healthy eating, Tai-Chi, Yoga, Latin and Painting classes have consistent attendance.
