Cary-Grove 2nd at Schaumburg
Cary-Grove finished second at the Schaumburg tournament Saturday, losing to St. Charles North 31-29, 25-17 in the championship match.
The Trojans (17-15) defeated Larkin and Bartlett but lost to Schaumburg in pool play but defeated St. Viator in the semifinal round.
Kayli Tausch (27 kills, 21 blocks) and Delaney Bayer (11 aces, 42 digs) led Cary-Grove to the second-place finish.
Larkin took fourth place in the tournament, losing to Cary-Grove and beating Schaumburg and Bartlett in pool play before losing to St. Charles North in the semifinals and St. Viator in the third-place match.
Olivia Kofie (50 kills, 8 aces, 5 blocks, 33 digs), Brianna Stewart (30 kills, 5 blocks, 29 digs, 18 assists), Alyssa McGhee (5 aces, 5 kills, 37 assists, 22 digs), Natalie Kofie (7 kills, 51 assists, 11 digs), Danielle Newquist (3 aces, 19 kills, 27 digs), Mia Gill (38 digs, 3 aces), Isabella Orozco (6 kills, 7 blocks) and Paige Grantham (4 kills, 6 blocks) led the Royals.
Bartlett (5-18-1) finished in seventh place. The Hawks lost to Cary-Grove, Schaumburg, Larkin and Hononegah then defeated East Peoria. Katie Hrbacek had 18 kills and 17 digs to lead the Hawks.
