Fox Lake, Lincolnshire teachers have tentative contracts

Teachers, administrators and board members in Lincolnshire and Fox Lake have reached tentative agreements on teacher contracts, both districts have announced.

Lincolnshire-Prairie View Elementary District 103 officials announced Thursday they reached a new agreement with teachers earlier this week.

Officials said they anticipate ratification of the agreement by the teachers association on Wednesday, and that the board is expected to approve their agreement on Tuesday, Sept 3.

In addition, officials said negotiation teams have met through the summer, where key issues were explored and addresses.

“The new tentative agreement seeks to recognize the role teachers have in educating our students and to help ensure the long-term financial health of the district,” said district communication coordinator Kimberly H. Sylvan.

She would not discuss details of the contract until after teachers ratify the contract.

In Fox Lake, Grant High School District 124 Superintendent Christie Sefcik said the school board approved the tentative agreement during a board meeting Thursday night at the high school at the corner of Route 59 and Grand Avenue.

She said the teachers union is expected to vote on the contract at their next union meeting Monday.

She also said bargaining sessions took place throughout the summer, but would not discuss the three-year agreement until after the teachers ratify it.
