Annual fashion show brings a glimpse of summer fashion

Members of the award winning Choral-Aires Chorus invite Chicagoland residents to experience the warmth of summer and get a glimpse of warm-weather fashions at their annual fashion show. Locals ready to put the cold behind can join the Chorus for the 26th annual fashion show presented by the Chorus and Zzazz Productions.

The fashion show, titled “Sand, Surf and Song” will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 2, at Drury Lane Oakbrook Terrace. The show offers attendees an afternoon of delicious food, excellent music, raffle prizes —three grand prizes include a Best Fitness Cross Trainer Elliptical ($550 value), a $500 gift certificate to Hurst Jewelry, and a $500 cash prize—and much more.

This event draws a sell-out crowd of nearly 800 attendees each year. Cocktail hour begins at 11 a.m. At noon, the Choral-Aires Chorus performs, followed by a luncheon and the fashion show. Tickets cost $40 and can be ordered by contacting Linda Butler at 847.577.7293 or lfbutler@msn.com.

“The fashion show is a highlight for our members, and the community, each year,” says Chorus President Nancy Smith. “Each woman is energized by the opportunity to perform for a large crowd using her talents in music and performance to the fullest. This year's show will be the best yet, with new directors, new members, and dedicated long-time members!”

Women passionate about music are invited to join the Choral-Aires Chorus during weekly rehearsals held each Monday from 7 to 10 p.m., at the Redeemer Lutheran Church Recreation Center (345 S. Kenilworth Avenue, Elmhurst). For more information about joining the Chorus, contact Barb Ehst at barbehst@hotmail.com or 630.204.5188.

More than 100 women from Illinois and Wisconsin sing tight harmonies a cappella (without instrumentation) with the Choral-Aires Chorus, a Sweet Adelines International medaling chorus, and the 2012 Lake Michigan Region 3 Champion. This program is partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency. More information about the Chorus can be found at their website, http://choral-aires.com.
