Sanfilippo estate hosts pipe organ concert for Faith in Action

Faith in Action of McHenry County, in conjunction with the Sanfilippo Foundation, will host “Some Enchanted Evening,” a theater pipe organ concert and tour of the world-renowned collection of music machines, phonographs and art glass at the private estate of Jasper and Marion Sanfilippo, “Place de Musique,” in Barrington Hills. The event takes place at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3 with an admission of $50.

Raffle winners also will be drawn during the event. Raffle tickets are available for $25 each or three for $65. The grand prize is a one-week stay at the Grand Manan Luxury Resort in Mexico (valued at $3,500). Other prizes include a pair of tickets to March 7, 2012 performance of “Showboat” at the Lyric Opera of Chicago, and two tickets for the Jan. 13, 2012 performance of “Ricky Nelson Remembered” at the Raue Center for the Arts.

All proceeds support services benefiting hundreds of McHenry County senior citizens living independently in their own homes or with family members. Faith in Action of McHenry County began on Nov. 1, 1998 with receipt of $25,000 from the Robert S. Wood Johnson Foundation to establish an Interfaith Volunteer Caregiver Program for the elderly in McHenry County utilizing guidelines from the national Faith in Action program. FIAMC began under the umbrella of Family Services and became a stand alone not-for-profit organization in 2000.

It currently utilizes about 350 volunteers from faith congregations and the community at large to provide services to care recipients, 60 years of age and older, living in their own home, apartment, or with a family member in McHenry County. Such services include transportation, friendly home visits and phone calls, shopping and errands, home maintenance and repairs, light yard work, light household chores, respite services and daily assurance calls.
