Buffalo Grove candidates talk
The Buffalo Grove Area Chamber of Commerce will host a candidates forum for Buffalo Grove village trustee candidates from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, in the Buffalo Grove High School Theater, 1100 W. Dundee Road. Six candidates are running for the three seats. Some questions will come from audience members. Assisting with the event is the Buffalo Grove High School AP Government & Politics class taught by Zach Crandall and the Media class, who will tape the event for replay on the village's cable access channel. The Streamwood Women's Club will have arrangements created by a local florist that will be raffled off to benefit Alexian Brothers Women's Services and the Hanover Township Food Pantry at 7 p.m. Monday, March 30, at Canton Middle School, 1100 Sunset Circle, Streamwood. Des Plaines group fundraiser
Life Span Services, a Des Plaines nonprofit agency helping women and children who are victims of domestic violence, will have a fundraiser on Saturday, April 4, featuring the hosts of HGTV's "Design on a Dime." Life Span is celebrating its 30th anniversary with offices in Des Plaines and Chicago, provides free counseling, legal services and other assistance to victims. The group works with Rolling Meadows, Wheeling and Elk Grove high schools, groups like Women in Need Growing Stronger, Advocate Lutheran General Hospital and Harper College, as well with local police departments. The fundraiser is 7 to 10 p.m. at Pazzo's 311, 311 S. Wacker Drive, Chicago. HGTV's Kelly Edwards, Ali Azhar and Dave Sheinkopf will offer tips for furniture and room design and offer a demonstration. Handmade items, including furniture, will be available for auction.
