• Doris Bettin, a Glen Ellyn resident for more than 40 years and director of Christian education at Faith Lutheran Church for 17 years, will display her artwork during August at the Glen Ellyn Public Library, 400 Duane St. She is a member and activities vice president of the DuPage Art League and exhibits her work at the Naperville Art League.

• Mike Wall and Paul Warkins, West Chicago's Community High School class of 2008, placed 4th in Entrepreneurship at the Future Business Leaders of America National Competition in Atlanta. The event was attended by 7,400 students from across the nation.

• Nancy Ristau, regent, Ellen Stortz, treasurer, and Teri-Ellen Rogers, Illinois state treasurer of the Anan Harmon Chapter of the DAR of Glen Ellyn, participated in the all-American DAR Chorus while attending the DAR 117th annual Continental Congress in Washington D.C. Their chapter received the Silver Level award for the American Spirit magazine contest. The event was attended by more that 3,000 members.

• Christine Smith of Bloomingdale and Chip Humes of Winfield recently were appointed directors of the GlenOaks Hospital Foundation in Glendale Heights. Smith is president of Old Town Bank and Trust in Bloomingdale and has 30 years of experience in banking and finance. Hume is president of the Addison Chamber of Commerce & Industry and also serves on the board of directors of Driscoll Catholic High School in Addison and the DuPage County Funeral Directors Association. He is co-owner and director of Humes Funeral Home in Addison.

• David R. Bertran was unanimously voted to the Elmhurst College board of trustees. He is a retired senior vice president of manufacturing/logistics at Nalco Chemical Company and previously served as chair of the college's Excellence Campaign in 1994 to raise $11 million.
