Scouting: Christian Lib. @ Mooseheart
NORTHEASTERN ATHLETIC
Christian Liberty (0-4, 0-4) at Mooseheart (3-1, 3-1)
When 7 p.m. today
Last week Christian Liberty lost to Kirkland Hiawatha 41-6; Mooseheart lost to Rockford Christian 41-14
Outlook Christian Liberty got on the board for the first time as an IHSA program with David Sotomayor's fourth-quarter TD last week. But the Chargers continue to look for the consistency to make it happen more often. "We should have played better and we kind of beat ourselves," said CLA coach Jim Kaulkins. "We turned the ball over a lot and dropped the ball (to stall drives)." The good news for the Chargers is they're getting healthier as two-way lineman Dan Calloway returns and linemen Jon Sherwell and Emilio Mondragon are also back. "(Mondragon) is doing a really good job," Kaulkins said. "For a freshman he's unbelievable." Mooseheart trailed unbeaten Rockford Christian 12-8 at halftime but also were hurt by 2 turnovers returned for TDs. "We've got to get that edge back," said Mooseheart coach Gary Urwiler. "We can't treat (Christian Liberty) lightly, because on any given night, it doesn't matter who you play, they can get you if you're not ready."
