Another sweep for Wheaton N.; Huskies, Redhawks win
Wheaton North (19-0, 12-0) capped its fourth straight DuPage Valley Conference baseball sweep behind a 5-hitter by winning pitcher Jack DeAno (5-0) and reliever Wade Cervenka with a 4-0 victory over West Aurora. Trey Martin blasted his sixth home run of the season and Aric Dama went 2-for-4.
Naperville North 3, West Chicago 0: Wes Torrez (5-1) fired a 5-hitter as the Huskies (16-5, 9-3) swept in the DuPage Valley Conference. Naperville North scored twice in the first inning and added an insurance run in the fifth.
Naperville Central 6, Glenbard East 2: Trailing 2-1 in the fifth inning, the Redhawks (14-9, 8-4) exploded for 5 runs to cap a three-game DuPage Valley Conference sweep. All 5 of Naperville Central's hits came in the fifth including Bob Czarnowski's RBI double. Dan Ludwig improved to 4-1 with the complete-game effort.
Waubonsie Valley 10, St. Charles East 3: The Warriors (11-9, 10-4) won for the eighth time in nine games behind a pair of home runs and 4 RBI by Kevin Kirchner. Jeff Brown went 3-for-5. Ryne Gill (2-1) was the complete-game winning pitcher.
Immaculate Conception 5, Aurora Central 0: Danny Muisenga (4-3) struck out eight in a complete-game 4-hitter for the Knights (12-13, 4-7) in their Suburban Catholic Conference win. Carlos Rodriguez went 3-for-3 with a double and 2 RBI.
Neuqua Valley 3, Plainfield North 2: Mike McKinley homered and drove in 2 runs for the Wildcats (14-8), who rallied from a 2-0 deficit. Rob Skowronski picked up the win while Jordan Williamson pitched a scoreless seventh to earn the save.
Driscoll 7, Glenbard West 3: Rick Divito improved to 6-0 for the Highlanders (13-9), who scratched out 7 runs on only 3 hits. Steve Schwabe and Mike Romito each had 2 RBI.
