Oscar winner to talk at Harper
Screenwriter Mark Boal is coming to Harper College in Palatine to discuss being embedded with U.S. troops in 2004 in Iraq, an experience that led to his win last year for Best Original Screenplay for Best Picture winner "The Hurt Locker."
Boal will talk about the moviemaking process, like the time he rewrote a role for actor Ralph Fiennes because he wanted to play a mercenary and not the British Ambassador. His lecture starts at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, in the Performing Arts Center, 1200 W. Algonquin Road. Tickets are $7 to $15 with discounts for Harper students and seniors.
A free screening of the movie takes place at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 16 in Room E106. Call (847) 925-6100 or visit harpercollege.edu for more information.
