ECC's fine dining options expand for the fall semester
Spartan Terrace Restaurant, the upscale venue operated by students of Elgin Community College's Culinary Arts and Hospitality Program, will be open for lunch and dinner during the fall 2010 semester. The restaurant is located inside the Culinary Arts Center on the ECC Main Campus, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin.
Diners will enjoy the bounty of the Culinary Arts and Hospitality Program's Rooftop Garden as they savor menu items such as Fresh Tomato Shortcake or Rooftop Garden Lasagna created using fresh, organic produce grown on campus.
Dinner will be served from 6-7:30 p.m. on most Mondays and Wednesdays starting Wednesday, Sept. 15, and ending Wednesday, Dec. 1. The restaurant is also open for lunch from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. on most Tuesdays and Thursdays starting Tuesday, Sept. 14, and running through Thursday, Dec. 2.
Guests become part of the education process as students, under the supervision of instructors, perfect their culinary expertise and service skills in preparation for careers in the hospitality industry. Artistry in both the taste and presentation of the meal is essential to the experience.
Diners can choose from a full range of entrees, including vegetarian options. The dinner menu features appetizers, soups, salads, entrees and desserts. Wines by the glass are also available.
Lunchtime diners are offered a menu of entrees as well as a small plates menu. The full menu is available for viewing at elgin.edu/spartanterrace.
Reservations for lunch and dinner are strongly recommended and available by calling (847)-214-7382.
