Harper looking for second straight win
After capturing its first win of the season 13-9 at home Sunday afternoon over the Wisconsin-Whitewater JV in a nonconference game, the Harper College football team is back on the road this weekend. And we mean really on the road, with a 12-hour bus ride to play North Dakota State College of Science (1-1) preceding today's 1 p.m. today in a Midwest Football Conference crossover contest.
The Wildcats are coming off a 55-7 loss to the NJCAA's No. 7-ranked team, Grand Rapids Community College.
Hawks coach Eric Waldstein is looking forward to the challenge.
"Our offensive line is going to have to work real hard this week to get prepared for it," Waldstein said earlier this week.
Harper (1-1) is hoping to protect sophomore quarterback Stuart Agusutine against the Wildcats' various defensive packages.
"Stu has played better," Waldstein said. "My teams always get better from Week 1 to Week 2."
The Hawks' running game is averaging 1.8 yards per carry, with 114 total yards rushing through two games. Augustine has amassed 277 yards passing.
Defensively, the Hawks are coming off their strongest showing to date, after forcing 6 fumbles against Wisconsin-Whitewater.
"Eric Palmore-Lett had a great game," Waldstein said of the Hawks starting defensive back, who had an interception Sunday.
