ECC instructor who claimed he was attacked placed on leave
An Elgin Community College instructor who claimed he was beaten in a school parking lot last month has been placed on administrative leave after a police investigation revealed a number of inconsistencies in the victim's story, ECC officials say.
Heidi Zwart Healy, the college's director of communications, said the victim's reported injuries were not consistent with what a police investigation found. She added the victim was uncooperative at times and that his story changed or was inconsistent on several occasions.
"Given these developments, ECC has placed the employee on administrative leave until further notice," Zwart Healy said in a news releases. "Additional action may be taken once the investigation has concluded."
The instructor, identified as Alan Hauschild - the college's truck driving program director - called campus police about 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 31. He said he had just been attacked in a parking lot near the college's truck yard.
Hauschild could not be reached for comment.
