Aurora wants electronics:Aurora is expanding its sustainability initiatives by offering residents the chance to recycle their electronic items. From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. today, residents can bring their old electronics to Aurora's Customer Service Center rear parking lot at 3770 McCoy Drive. Accepted electronics include computers and peripherals, entertainment equipment and office equipment. Microwave ovens will be the only kitchen appliance accepted. The city hopes to offer electronics recycling on a regular basis. Dates of future drop-off dates are pending.Take a kid fishing:Aurora's Youth and Senior Services Division and the Wayside Cross Urban Youth Ministry will sponsor a "Family Fishing Experience" for students and their family members from 9 a.m. to noon today at Phillips Park's Mastodon Lake, 1000 Ray Moses Drive. The free event is open to all students in school districts 129, 131, 204 and 308, as well as those who attend Aurora parochial schools. Participants are encouraged to bring their own fishing equipment and bait; a limited amount of bait, tackle, and fishing poles to borrow will be available. Free snacks will be provided.Motorcycle ride for kids:The annual Chicagoland Ride for Kids to benefit the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation will be held at 9:15 a.m. Sunday at Elgin Community College, 1700 Spartan Drive. Escorted by local and state police, motorcyclists will ride together to raise money for medical research grants and family support programs. Minimum donation is $35 per motorcycle. The ride will culminate at the college with a Celebration of Life program featuring onstage interviews with local childhood brain tumor survivors and award presentations to top fundraising chapters, clubs, individuals and motorcycle businesses. There will be a grand prize drawing for a new Honda motorcycle. Free coffee and pastries will be available for breakfast and a light lunch at the end of the ride.
