Libertyville blanks Zion-Benton

Libertyville 4, Zion-Benton 0: Joey Ruppert and Tomide Owalabi each scored twice in the second half to lift the host Wildcats in their North Suburban Lake Division opener.

Austin Bitta had 2 assists, and Andrew Bitta and Ellis Matthews combined on the shutout for Libertyville (3-0).

Grayslake North 6, Woodstock North 0: Sophomores Sintayehu Meyer and Baruk Perez-Vera each scored twice, as the Knights opened their season in impressive style.

Meyer's pair of goals in the first eight minutes of the second half stretched Grayslake North's margin to 3-0 lead. Senior Manny Martinez assisted on both tallies.

Senior Cory Homan and junior Kip Wetter also scored.

Seniors Chris Meyers had 2 assists as well. Sophomores Carson Klarck and Arnaud Laroche-Bataille also assisted on goals, while junior Richard Klarck made 1 save in earning the shutout.

"I am really happy with the performance, especially with it being the first game of the year," North coach Adam DeCaluwe said. "The kids really did what they needed to from the start of the game to the finish."

St. Patrick 4, Vernon Hills 0: The Cougars dropped the North Shore Shootout match to fall to 0-3 on the season.

Round Lake 3, Rolling Meadows 3: Round Lake's draw earned the Panthers first place in the Crystal Lake South tournament.

Grant 3, Richmond-Burton 0: Daniel Villa scored all 3 goals, including two in the second half, while Emilio Salinas had 2 assists.

Steve Cervantes had an assist as well for Grant (2-0) in the nonconference game. Anthony Pecorini notched the shutout.
