Joey Lange was not only the winning pitcher, he also hit the game-winning 2-run home run with two outs in the top of the seventh inning Tuesday as the Burlington Central baseball team downed Red Bud 7-5 in southern Illinois. The Rockets (2-1) trailed 5-2 going into the top of the seventh. Tanner Scott had 2 hits for BC, including 2 RBI in the seventh, and Sam Klein was 3-for-4. Lange allowed 6 hits with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts in 6 innings.

Streamwood 11, Hampshire 1: Blake Hunter allowed just 3 hits with 9 strikeouts as Streamwood (3-0) rolled to a nonconference win. Richie Gorski (2B, RBI), Nick Pryor (2 RBI), Alex Morrow (2B, RBI) and Zach Bucher (RBI) each had 2 hits for the Sabres, who had a 7-run fifth inning. “It was a solid outing for Blake’s first start and our bats came alive in the fifth inning,” said Streamwood coach Steve Diversey. Luke Wians had 2 hits and Sean O’Shea a double for Hampshire (0-2). Tyler Crater was the losing pitcher.

Huntley 2, Barrington 1: Huntley scored twice in the third inning and made it stand up in winning this nonconference game at Barrington. Jake Perkins was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for the Red Raiders (2-0). Justin Gordlach struck out seven to pick up the win.

Harrisburg 8, Cary-Grove 3: The Trojans manages just 5 hits and made 4 errors in losing to downstate power Harrisburg. Mike Vilardo had a triple for Cary-Grove (2-2). Chris Leach was the losing pitcher.
