Neuqua Valley outlasts Plainfield South

Kat Widup went 3-for-4 with a double and 2 runs batted in, and Brooke Meyer went 3-for-4 and scored 2 runs for the visiting Wildcats (2-0). Jena Boudreau (2-0) struck out nine.
Marist 5, West Chicago 3:
LSU recruit Rikki Alcaraz tripled in the go-ahead run for Marist in the ninth inning in West Chicago. The lead runner had reached on an error, stole second and advanced to third on a passed ball.
Mary Connolly struck out 11 for West Chicago, which led 3-2 going into the top of the seventh of the Wildcats’ season opener. Jessica Wood went 4-for-4 and scored 3 runs.
York 6, Benet 4:
Allyson Staats went 3-for-4 with a double and scored 2 runs for the visiting Redwings (2-2), and Julianne Rurka doubled and drove in 2 runs. Winning pitcher Tessa Kroll doubled for York (1-0).
Fenton 13, Marshall (Wis.) 3:
Kelly Welch went 4-for-6, Tara Lawson 3-for-5 with a double, triple and 3 RBI and the Bison banged out a season-high 16 hits in Orlando, Fla.
Fenton 16, Fieldston, N.Y. 6:
A 5-run second sparked the Bison to its second win of the day in Orlando, Fla. Kelly Welch’s 2-run triple got things started for Fenton. Kayla Reyes scored 3 runs for Fenton (3-1).
Trinity 10-8, Immaculate Conception 1-2:
Briana Iosco went 2-for-2 for the Knights in the first game and Allison Lajka hit a 2-run double in the seventh inning of the nightcap against the defending Class 3A state runners-up.
