Mattera lifts Lake Zurich to 10-inning win

Megan Mattera drove in the winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning, as Lake Zurich's softball team outlasted Stevenson 5-4 in a North Suburban Lake showdown Wednesday.

Mattera finished 4-for-5 with a triple and 3 RBI. Amanda Orchard singled, drew 2 walks and scored 2 runs for Lake Zurich (18-9, 8-1).

Stevenson (17-12, 6-3) was led offensively by Amanda Jaegers (4-for-6, RBI) and Genny Duffy (3-for-4). Alyssa Vechiola, Rebekah Ozga (double) and Allie Micucci each had 2 hits.

Grant 6, Lakes 1: Winning pitcher Brie Brugioni struck out nine in the North Suburban Prairie game.

Rachel DePouw had a pair of hits for Grant (16-12, 7-2).

Lakes fell to 4-5 in the division.

CL Central 6, Grayslake Central 0: The Tigers broke open a close game by scoring 4 runs in the sixth.
