ECC ensembles offer December performances

Elgin Community College bands and vocal ensembles offer something for everyone during December performances in the ECC Arts Center, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin.

ECC Jazz Ensembles: Chicago trombonist Tom Garling will be the special guest for a “Winter Taste of Jazz,” an evening performance of big band musical styles, standards and favorites. It will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2. Cost is $11 for adults and $9 for students and seniors.

ECC Concert Choir: ECC professor John G. Slawson leads a performance that celebrates the harmonious beauty of choral music during “The Gift of Song” at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 6. Cost is $9 for adults, $7 for students and seniors.

ECC Steel Bands: Spend a “Holiday in the Tropics” during this performance featuring a Caribbean-flavored blend of calypso, soca, reggae, ska and rock at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7. Cost is $9 for adults, $7 for students and seniors.

ECC Concert Band: Enjoy holiday favorites and some new selections from around the world by this band at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8. Cost is $9 for adults, $7 for students and seniors.

ECC Vocal Jazz Ensemble: The Blizzard Theatre will be jumping with the jazzy melodies of Cole Porter, Burt Bacharach and the Gershwin brothers that are sung by this lively ensemble at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9. Cost is $9 for adults, $7 for students and seniors.
