Discussion on mental illness to be held in Crystal Lake

The McHenry County Mental Health Board invites all county residents to an open house and the annual public hearing Monday, May 21, at its facility, 620 Dakota St. in Crystal Lake.
Tour the facility, meet the staff, enjoy refreshments and browse the informational behavioral health fair from 3 to 6 p.m.
If you’ve ever wondered about what goes on at the board meetings, drop in from 5 to 6 p.m. These meetings are open to the public.
The public hearing runs from 6 to 9 p.m. It will begin with a presentation followed by tabletop discussions in areas concerning mental illness, traumatic brain injury, developmental disabilities and substance abuse.
“The voices of McHenry County residents are an important part of our planning process,” said Sandy Lewis, executive director of the McHenry County Mental Health Board.

Child care, American Sign Language and Spanish interpreters will be available.
