Elgin Community College to hold auditions for 'Company'

Elgin Community College Musical Theatre announces auditions for the summer production of "Company," a Broadway musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim.

Auditions will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, May 7, in rooms VPA 284D and VPA 285D, and 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 8, in rooms VPA 284D and VPA 285D in the Visual and Performing Arts Center, 1700 Spartan Drive.

Callbacks, if necessary, will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Monday, May 10, in Room VPA 164M.

Auditions are open to males and females ages 16 and older. Roles will be cast with age-appropriate participants. Performers should prepare a musical number from any Broadway show other than "Company" and bring sheet music for the accompanist that will be provided. Taped accompaniment or a cappella singing will not be permitted. Comfortable attire, including dance footwear, is required.

"Company" opens Friday, July 23, and runs weekends through Sunday, Aug. 8. ECC professor John G. Slawson is the artistic and musical director. Konnie Kay of St. Charles, who has choreographed many shows locally and nationwide, is the director and choreographer.
