The Elgin Community College Spartan Law Review will host a presentation by Ed Yohnka of the American Civil Liberties Union on Thursday, March 21. The event will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. in the Building G Spartan Auditorium on the Spartan Drive Campus, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin.
Yohnka will speak about criminal law reform in regard to marijuana being legalized in some states and violations being reclassified to lesser offenses in others. A question-and-answer session follows the presentation.
Yohnka is the director of communications and public policy for the ACLU and has appeared regularly on television and radio. From 1987 to 1999, he served on the staff of the American Bar Association and has spent most of that time as a special presidential assistant in the ABA’s Office of the President.
The ECC Spartan Law Review is a student group that exhibits writings on legal issues and matters. The group is ideal for students considering a career as a paralegal, or to meet other paralegal students, instructors, and graduates.
