Learn about ‘Healthy Holidays’

The public is invited to Green Drinks McHenry County from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, at Duke’s Alehouse & Kitchen, 110 N. Main St. in Crystal Lake. Head upstairs at Duke’s for info and inspiration, business and pleasure. Come talk about “greening” the future with others. Must be 21 to purchase alcohol. Nonalcoholic drinks are available.

Dave Childress from Crystal Lake Health Foods Store will be on hand to talk about “Healthy Holidays,” focusing on stress and digestion. He has been working at the Crystal Lake Health Food Store since 1979, eventually becoming the store manager, and then onto a degree as a certified nutritionist in 2001.

In January, there will be no meeting due to the holiday. On Feb. 5, the topic will be “Vermicomposting” (composting with worms), followed on March 5 by “Energy Efficiency Ideas” and on April 2 by a discussion on water.

There will be an information table set up, and you are welcome to bring information about your green products and services each month to share. Additional parking is available at the train station.
