Learn about elusive cougars in our midst at MCC program

Shrouded in myth and rumor, news of the elusive cougar can elicit curiosity and fear. Learn more about this secretive animal at McHenry County Conservation District’s “Cougars in Our Midst?” featuring national expert on carnivore ecology, Dr. James Halfpenny from Montana, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, at Prairieview Education Center, 2112 Behan Road, Crystal Lake.
Dr. Halfpenny will share current information concerning cougars and help sort fact from fiction regarding these fascinating mammals. He is an author, scientist, and educator whose work has taken him to all seven continents as well as Greenland. His specialties include environmental ecology, animal tracking, and other carnivores such as lynx, wolverines and wolves. For more information on Dr. Halfpenny, visit halfpenny.me.
Space is limited. Registration and fee required by Wednesday, Nov. 28. Program for adults age 14 and older is free for county residents and $6 for nonresidents.
