Pedal for Pads event to aid homeless services in McHenry County

Submitted by Pioneer Center for Human Services

Register now for the fifth annual Pedal (or Walk) for PADS event to benefit homeless services by McHenry County PADS, a program of Pioneer Center for Human Services. The event is scheduled to take place Saturday, Sept. 15, at Moraine Hills State Park in McHenry.

This year’s event offers multiple courses for both novice and more experienced bike riders and it features a walking path for those wishing to participate in the walk portion of the event. Bike trails range from 2 miles to 3.7 miles long and the walking trail is one mile long. Longer routes will be available for more competitive riders.

Registration fees are $10 for individuals or $30 for a family of five with two adults and three children. The first 100 registrants will receive an event T-shirt. There will be a raffle at the end of the event. Just for participating individuals will receive one raffle chance. For every $100 a participant raises in pledges, they will receive another chance. Plus, additional chances can be purchased for $10 each or three for $25.

Upon the participants return from their walk or ride there will be music, a kid’s bike parade, raffles and lunch.

Online registration is available at pioneercenter.org until Friday, Sept. 14. On-site registration and rider check-in will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Sept. 15. All participants are encouraged to return from the trails by noon as music, raffles and lunch will be offered from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Once you are registered, individuals will be able to login to their account and customize their personal donation page, send emails, manage offline pledges and monitor the status of their fundraising efforts.
