Trail of History tickets on sale for northwest territory re-enactment

Advance discounted tickets for McHenry County Conservation District’s 25th Trail of History are on sale now. The Trail of History, a living history re-enactment of the northwest territory between 1670-1850, will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 19 and 20 at Glacial Park, Ringwood.

The Trail of History is an entertaining and educational living history re-enactment that features over 100 interpreters from across the country demonstrating trades and crafts common in the early settler days. Visitors to the Trail of History will enjoy making corn husk dolls, playing old-fashioned games, or dressing up in old-fashioned clothes. Other activities include a re-enactment of military tactics, Dr. Balthazar’s traveling medicine show, blacksmiths demonstrations, a variety of musicians, dancers and more. Souvenirs and authentic culinary treats are also available for purchase at the event.

Advance discounted tickets may be purchased online with a credit card at http://bit.ly/reg-resv-buy: $6 for adults; $3 for children ages 6-12 and seniors ages 60-plus; children five and under are free. Tickets can also be purchased in person until Oct. 11 at Lost Valley Visitor Center in Glacial Park, Route 31 and Harts Road in Ringwood, or mail-in requests (postmarked by Oct. 4) to Lost Valley Visitor Center, 7210 Keystone Rd., Richmond. Tickets are nonrefundable, cash or check only. Tickets day of event: $8 adult, $4 child/senior. The entrance to Glacial Park is at Route 31 and Harts Road in Ringwood. Admittance gates close at 3 p.m. to allow visitors time to make the one-mile walk over hilly terrain to the encampment site. A limited special needs parking area is available.
