Melany Love had 2 triples and 3 RBI Thursday as Dundee-Crown won its first softball game of the season, downing Wheeling 6-2.
Amanda Eissler and Brittany Schultz each had 2 hits for the Chargers while Tiffany Rawlinson and Schultz each had RBI. Eissler was also the winning pitcher, allowing just 2 hits with 5 strikeouts and no earned runs.
Conant 8, South Elgin 1: Conant hit the Storm (2-2) with a 5-run third inning in this nonconference game. Katelyn Stonecipher and Shannon Conway each had 2 hits for South Elgin. Sam Bolin was the losing pitcher. The Storm committed 5 errors in the game.
Hampshire splits: Jordan Hook had 2 doubles and Jen Hurst and Kristina Potempa 2 hits each in the opener but Hampshire fell to Oregon 5-4. The Whip-Purs (1-2) bounced back to win the second game of the nonconference doubleheader 11-6 as Hurst had 4 hits and 5 RBI and Potempa 2 more hits. Hurst struck out seven but suffered the loss in Game 1. Alisa Wood allowed only 2 hits and overcame 7 walks to win Game 2.
Glenbard North 9, Bartlett 1: The Hawks managed just 2 hits in losing a nonconference game in Carol Stream.
College softball
ECC loses 2: The Spartans opened their ISCC season with two tough losses to Prairie State, 8-6 and 4-3. In Game 1, Rae Bosteder and Layla Ismajlaj were each 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Spartans and Jordan Hogue had 2 RBI. Diana Besser was the losing pitcher. In Game 2, Hogue hit a 3-run home run and had 2 hits for the Spartans (1-5, 0-2). Jennifer Jordan suffered the loss.
Judson wins 2: Sam Gladen and Katie Talbot picked up the pitching wins as Judson (14-7, 5-1) swept a CCAC doubleheader at Purdue-North Central, winning 4-2 and 7-1.
