Barrington clinches MSL West
Barrington wrapped up the Mid-Suburban West title by earning a 0-0 draw with visiting Hersey in Mid-Suburban League boys soccer on Tuesday.
The Broncos came within a single goal of earning a spot in the MSL Cup last season before a 1-0 loss to Palatine on the final day of league play.
Barrington will host the MSL East champion in the league championship game at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 17.
Wheeling 6, Hoffman Estates 1: Five players scored as host Wheeling netted a 6-1 victory over Hoffman Estates on Tuesday in Mid-Suburban League play.
Juan Hernandez, Francisco Arellano and Ivan Mancilla had first-half goals for Wheeling, and Jose Garcia, Frank Estrada and Arellano scored in the second half.
Gary Mendoza made 3 saves for the Wildcats.
Rolling Meadows 4, Prospect 0: Kou Glaser scored the first goal for host Rolling Meadows and also assisted on the last one, scored by Bret Gibson.
Schaumburg 1, Palatine 0: Alan Santana’s first-half goal, assisted by Phil Minneci, was the difference for the host Saxons.
Maine West 1, Maine South 0: Danny Silva scored off a cross by Miguel Lopez with under four minutes left as the visiting Warriors beat the Hawks in a Central Suburban League crossover.
Nick Pisani earned his eighth shutout of the season as Maine West improved to 13-4-2.
