Elgin should post red light cameras

The city of Elgin could be boosting revenue and making more intersections safer for drivers and pedestrians by adding more red light cameras to intersections around town. I believe that adding even a couple could raise awareness and make drivers more leery about trying to beat the red, while enforcing the law fairly on those who do try.

At some major intersections in towns such as Roselle, accidents have already decreased by 30 percent. Even though fewer drivers are disobeying laws at these intersections, a profit is still being generated, which is something every town could benefit from in these times.

In the case of an accident at an intersection where a camera is present, eyewitnesses will no longer be the only source disposition with the unbiased camera capturing the whole incident. With these points in safety, revenue, and honesty mentioned, it is no question as to why more cameras should be installed.
