Hersey holds off Palatine

Hersey trailed early but didn't lose its late lead as it held on for a 56-54 Mid-Suburban League boys basketball crossover victory at Palatine.

Sean Reszotko led a balanced attack for the Huskies (8-6) with 14 points. Connor Miklasz added 11 points, Justin Jobski scored 10 and Tom Sutrinaitis had 9 points in their third straight win.

Palatine (5-10) led 15-8 after a quarter but couldn't get a good look in the final seconds to prevent its seventh straight loss. Peter Bony had a game-high 15 points, Egan Malley scored 14 points and John Millin added 11 points.

Buffalo Grove 61, Hoffman 52: Jeff Zabrin scored 17 points to lead three Buffalo Grove (9-5) players in double figures and offset a career-high 29 points from Hoffman Estates junior Austin Terry.

Zabrin hit a pair of 3s and Nick Prus scored 16 points and hit three 3s as the Bison snapped a three-game losing streak. Dan Recht scored 11 points and Sam Wacker added 8 points after missing two games with an injured ankle.

Terry also had 8 rebounds for Hoffman (3-10) and Eric Saubert added 8 points.

Fremd 66, Wheeling 50: Fremd (9-6) broke open a close game with a 24-11 third quarter in the MSL crossover.

Zach Monaghan scored a game-high 21 points and hit four 3s for the Vikings, who led 27-22 at halftime. Jim Scharfe scored 13 points, Quinton Brown added 12 points and Jack Konopka and Ken Leonard scored 9 and 7 points respectively.

Charlie Kirk and Nick Boyd scored 12 points apiece for Wheeling (4-9) and Ricky Schwind added 10 points and hit two 3s.

Schaumburg 63, Meadows 33: Christian Spandiary scored a game-high 16 points and Javon McDonald added 12 points as Schaumburg (6-7) took a 22-6 lead after a quarter in the MSL crossover.

Kyle Bolger and Kurt Kempema added 9 and 8 points respectively for the Saxons. Brian Nelms scored 10 points to lead Rolling Meadows (5-9).

Barrington 52, Elk Grove 34: John Schneider scored 16 points as Barrington (10-6) led 28-10 at halftime in the MSL crossover. Brad Zaumseil scored 11 points and Tyler Weathered added 8 points.

Sophomores Austin Amann and Devin Neill scored 8 points apiece as Elk Grove (4-10) lost for the seventh time in eight games.

Maine West 60, Fenton 54: Conor Hart scored a game-high 24 points as Maine West (9-4) matched its victory total of last season in the nonconference game in Des Plaines.

Hart was 8-for-13 from the field and 7-for-10 from the free-throw line. Odera Eneogwe added 14 points and Kevin Garcia scored 8 points with two 3-pointers.
