Learn growth expectations in your yard

Submitted by University of Illinois Extension

The spring series of the “Four Seasons Gardening” program from University of Illinois Extension concludes with a session titled “Don’t Doubt the Drought.”

The program will be offered at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 23. It will be presented via teleconference at the McHenry County Extension office in Woodstock, 1102 McConnell Road.

2012 was hot and dry — how will the landscape respond in the years to come? This program will discuss growth expectations in 2013 on lawns, newly planted trees, shrubs, and evergreens. How will the drought impact the flowering plants such as perennials, flowering shrubs, and ornamental trees? What should we be looking for with established trees and what are some of the best management practices for helping our landscape plants recover?

Cost for the session is $5. Advance registration is required. Register online at web.extension.illinois.edu/lm.
